Gallery Problems
Unfortunatly, the program that i use to link Flickr to my website has broken. I am working manically to fix it so please keep your eye on the site and we should be back up and running soon.
Temporary Fix: Please visit www.flickr.com/neiloliverphoto
Update: I have still not managed to fix the problem, but i have found out there are a lot of people with the same problem and we are all working to try and correct this error as soon as possible.
Prints
For a limited period I have decided to sell some of my prints, mainly due to the latest photoshoot at Saltford Hall for the Oklahoma production. Prints will be available for a very small 50p each with a minimum order of £5. Alternatively, the set of 40 Oklahoma pictures on my website can be ordered for £10 plus postage and packing.
First class postage will cost £1.50 and payments will be made via paypal. Package should be recieved after three working days. Please use the contact page for orders and more information.
Oklahoma
On monday night I went to Saltford Hall to take another load of photos for another great local amature dramatics company. KLOG (Keynsham Light Opera Group) is currently running a production of Oklahoma for the remainder of the week. Check out the Gallery Page for a sneak preview of the show. I do recommend trying to get to see the show, the production and performance in general is amazing.
Camera Problems
Typically the thing you least expect to go wrong, breaks. My camera has developed an error that appears when ever it feels like it. Error 99 appears on the screen and i have to reset the camera to carry on taking photos. I have done some searching but no one has a clear cut answer on what the problem is.
Having this error has brought into light how important my camera is, so as soon as its fixed im going to treat it to some new lenses, flash and a battery grip.
Luckily i am not without a camera as i can stil use mine (just with a few resets along the way) so dont worry, i will still be taking photos and posting them on the site. If you have any information that may be of some help to me regarding error 99 please leave me a comment on this post.
Calling all bands
The new website and new photos are comming on great (if i do say so myself) but i am lacking one important thing. I really want to have some band photography on my site, be it live or promotional i dont care. This post is just a quick shout out to any local bands of Bath to say that if you need some photos, I’m your man. Due to the fact that i have no previous live work to form a portfolio there is no charge for this service at present (although i would hope you would buy me a beer!). If you are interested, please drop me a comment using the contact page.
Black and White
Black and white photography is something that scares me. It scares me because i am always unsure on when to use it. I do not want to continuously shoot in black and white as this seems to be a common trend of many amature photographers. It is an effect and needs to be used when appropriate. Up to this point, i have always taken photos in colour and then converted to black and white. This is partially because i am shooting with a digital camera and the choice does not need to be made immediatly, but also because it allows me to choose if i like a picture in colour or black and white. Having this decition however does not allow me to take photos with a black and white result in mind.
Today i set out to take a black and white set of photos of bath. The photographs that i took were (as always) taken in colour, however before previewing any of the photographs on the computer, i converted all of the photographs to black and white and then chose the ones i liked. I have not yet looked at the colour photographs and i do not intend to. This is my first ever 100% set of black and white photographs and i am very pleased with the result.
If anyone reading this would like to give me there input on black and white photgraphy and there approaches to this subject, i would love to hear from you. Please contact me via the contact page, or if your comments are specific to a particular photo, please leave a comment.
Bath
I have lived in Bath now for over 6 months. I moved here because i think it is one of the most amazing cities in the world. It has an atmosphere that you always feel comfortable in and you always feel welcome and at home. I realised today that i have been here for so long, yet i have not taken the opportunity to photography such an amazing city. Im going to get some sleep for the moment as I’m writing this at 1 am, but when i wake up i will head down into town and try and get some new photographs for the site. Keep your eyes peeled for any new pictures in the personal section of the gallery, or just keep your eye on this post as I’m sure i will update it. For now, good night.
Update: It wasn’t the nicest of days today, but i thought i would give the photos a go anyway. I have uploaded them to the personal section of the gallery page.
New Photos
I have tried to get a more varied set of photos up in the gallery. I will keep adding some more over the next few days, but i have yet to add any descriptions. Please take a look through (as there could be some of you) and leave me a comment on any that make an impression on you.
I still need to dig out the band photos that i did at the Phoenix, Plymouth as they are on a DVD somewhere still in storage. I will get them uploaded as soon as i find them. If you have any requests for photos you think i might have taken, send me a message via the contact page.
Links
Just a quick update to the site. I have added a links page so i can show you the people who have made this website possible. Please check it out and take a few minutes to have a look at their websites. There are only a few names on there at the minute so if you would like me to add a link to you please drop me a coment on the contacts page and i will add you as soon as possible.
Holiday
Having the time to come back home to Plymouth has been great. It has been really nice to catch up with old friends and just relax for a few days before heading back to school next week. All of my marking is up to date and im looking forward to another great term. Need to get into the routine again and get the band practises on the go soon.
